I just upgraded to WordPress 3.1.1 and image cropping is not working. I click “save” and nothing happens. For my featured images I always create a custom-cropped thumbnail.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Similar problem here. I just installed 3.1.1 earlier tonight and now I cannot set a featured image at all. I chose a photo from my Media Library and clicked “Use as Featured Image”, but it did not work. It only works on fresh uploads.

I used to have that problem before, but it seemed like it was fixed briefly in WordPress 3.1, but with 3.1.1 it is no longer working.

Did you do as esmi suggested? Who is your host?

No, I did not go that far yet… just alerting here that it seems to be an issue with 3.1.1. For now, I will stick with my workaround rather than fight with all of my plugins since it worked fine before the upgrade. Perhaps I’ll do that on the weekend when I have less to do. 🙂

I deactivated all plugins and image cropping started working again. I narrowed the problem down to a plugin I was using called “Collapsible Archive Widget”. Deactivated that plugin and image cropping seems to be working now.

I glad to hear that JoshCleland. Please mark this resolved.
