It's blogger being stupid. They don't like you to export.

Try making a (temporary) wordpress.COM site, and import there. From there you can export back to your own site.

Tried did not work same error- even though I could create an account at WordPress.com then import my blog from blogspot to WordPress.com and then save to my computer it would not import back to Blogspot and it saved the file as this- C:\Users\fvlabs\Desktop\blog convert\sandymetcalfcom.wordpress.2011-12-18.xml

WHAT am I doing wrong here?

    Thanks

Why are you going BACK to blogspot?

    I though the process would be blogspot -> WordPress.com -> WordPress.ORG

If you're having issues importing into blogspot, we can't help you.

I agree with Ipstenu. I still have several blogs on blogger and although they are fine for what I'm using them for, if I ever moved them to wp.com or wp.org, there's no way I'd move them back to blogger.

I am confused the course I am taking wanted me to import my blog to WP but it would not (errors with Google account "see first post") I am not sure where he would have us go next in the setup or what comes after that in the process as I stopped the course when I got hung up importing. But the wp.com is not showing my blog under my domain name of http://sandymetcalf.com/

Instead it is under the name I signed up on, on WP.com as http://sandymetcalfblog.wordpress.com/ which is not what I am trying to setup I am trying to show my blog on sandymetcalf.com that is what the course is about and how he has taken us along- How do I get back to that scenario- DO I NEED to export from wp.com to wp.org to achieve that?

However I am showing both blog accounts as users?? on my http://sandymetcalf.com/ account

I tried to ask wp.com for support when this all started, but they told me I was a .org account to come here- so as I said I am confused.

DO I NEED to export from wp.com to wp.org to achieve that?

Yes. That's what I told you to do.

Import your posts from blogger to wordpress.com (you did that)

NOW import your posts from wordpress.com to your wordpress.org site :)

I got this when I tried to add plug in domain manager as there was no domain manger on my dashboard in which to go to like the directions told me to do

and I can no longer get to my main site sandymetcalf.com now

    instead I get

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_site_admin() in /home/sandylm/public_html/wp-content/plugins/diego-cox/domain-manager.php on line 14

    I AM LOST!!!!

sandymetcalf.com is up for me. sandymetcalf.com/wp-admin works.

Go in via FTP and delete the folder diego-cox

You don't need a domain manager, you're confused about which site you're on. Take a DEEP breath.

You have to perform actions in the order of things, okay?

The content transfer process is similar to that described above (between WordPress.com blogs):

In the old blog, go to Tools → Export and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.
In the new blog, go to Tools → Import → WordPress and upload the file you downloaded in step 1. Make sure that you choose the option to Download & import file attachments. This option will be available after you upload the file.

That's ALL you have to do.

The OLD BLOG is your wordpress.com site.

The NEW BLOG is the sandymetcalf.com one.

    No domain manager needed.

Sorry we had company tonight. Just now getting back here

I can see sandymetcalf.com if I type it so front page must still be up

But this error still shows if I try and log in

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_site_admin() in /home/sandylm/public_html/wp-content/plugins/diego-cox/domain-manager.php on line 14

Or even on the sandymetcalf.com page I already had up before so has the edit tabs on top if I click on any tab be it dash board or post, or widgets, or ???? Any tab or drop down same error page shows

So how am I to log into admin? when I copy and paste sandymetcalf.com/wp-admin or sandymetcalf.com/wp I get the error screen

    sandymetcalf.com/wp will give you a 404 because there's nothing there :)

sandymetcalf.com/wp-admin works for me, but I'm not logged in.

FTP is a file manager tool. How did you install WordPress to begin with?

I got a course on building a blog for my business- I followed it, we started with purchase your domain name at godaddy then having it hosted at Host Gator, then he had us install wordpress while inside Host Gator we had to copy and paste name servers from an email these-

    1st Nameserver: ns3717.hostgator.com
    2nd Nameserver: ns3718.hostgator.com

then we went into control panel and selected install wordpress if you give me an email address I will send you Module One of the course.

I really appreciate this as I am getting no support at all from the course manager or response from the people I purchased this course from

If you are using HostGator, don't hesitate to call them. After all, you are paying them for support. They should be able to walk you through the installation until WP is up and running on your domain.

Don't write them, call them. They will have a CSR walk you through step-by-step. Not only will you get a quicker response but the dialog can also be educational for you so you better understand what you're trying to do.
