If no mod_rewrite can I still use Permalinks ? (4 posts)

    Hello

I am looking to start using WordPress (Version 2.2.1, stable). I have used the "Ask John" letter

    http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

with my UK ISP (Easyspace) and they do not support mod_rewrite which I gather is used to provide permalinks, which look very useful. Will I be able to use permalinks without mod_rewrite and if they use a "Linux Share server" will this prevent the use of WordPress ?

You can use WordPress without Permalinks.

You can't get to "pretty" Permalinks, but you can do "almost pretty" if so inclinded (see the Permalinks for details).

Or you can just leave 'em at the default.

The use of the "nice" permalinks is optional.
You can use WP even without it. (No, without mod_rewrite you cannot use the nice permalinks.)

Even without mod_rewrite nice permalinks are possible. Just download and use
    Deans Permalinks Migration Plugin.
    Works fine for WP2+ ...
