If I want to move my WordPress install to another host, do I need MySQL?

    I need to move my WordPress install from one expiring host to a new one, but as I recall, there’s a GUI tool in the panel that allows us to export posts and (I think) comments. If posts/comments with their original timestamps are the minimum I want preserved for the moved blog, do I need to mess with MySQL? Or is one method preferred over the other?
