[resolved] If I delete the "active" theme from the web host, what happens? (4 posts)

I downloaded a new theme today, my first theme download, and I did not "preview" it before I installed it. Now I am getting the following error when I attempt to view or log-in to my site:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_nav_menu() in D:\Hosting\6108890\html\index\wp-content\themes\voidy\functions.php on line 267

It is entirely probable I did something wrong here, but I need to regain access to my site. If I delete the downloaded theme from my web hosting content file manager, will wordpress go to the default theme? Is there a way to "backdoor" into the admin panel so I can change my theme back to the default?

will wordpress go to the default theme?

    Yes

Is there a way to "backdoor" into the admin panel so I can change my theme back to the default?

Not really. Deleting/renaming the current theme's folder is the recommended route in these situations.

esmi - just what I was hoping for! WordPress has been a great resource. My first problem, and I get free help in less than 20 minutes!

I deleted the theme folder from my hosting account, and the site went back to default. Thank you for the assistance.
