    Hi Kurt;
Trying to get hold of a PC with IE9 at the moment, but is anything popping up in the bottom left corner indicating a javascript-issue of some kind? If so; what error-message do you see?

    Kind regards,
    frank

    Hi Frank,
Thanks for the quick reply. I’m using browserstack primarily to test this and can’t see if there is a javascript issue. I had a coworker look on his computer and he got the same preview in IE9 as browserstack did and said he didn’t get javascript error. I don’t have access to his computer now to confirm this. I wish I could give you more info. I’ve tested it on a couple of different virtual servers and one laptop with the same result. Like I said, works beautifully everywhere else. Leave it to IE to spoil the party. Would love to get this to work. If you have any other questions I’ll respond right away. Thanks for looking at this.

Did a quick test on IE8 which I have lying around on my work computer; apperantly respond.js, which is part of your theme, is throwing a JS-error and indeed I only see the first thumbnail there as well.

It is very likely that the same is happening in IE9 and that that is what is blocking lyte. I propose you test this with a different theme (twenty twelve maybe) to confirm. If so, your theme developer would probably need to look into this.

ok I really appreciate the quick feedback. I’m gonna look into this.

Just as a test I removed the respond.min.js file but it didn’t fix it.

I would quickly test with a different theme altogether, really. And when testing, you should have IE8 or IE9 handy to see if there is a JS error-indicator in the bottom left corner. I’m off to bed now, but can test in IE8 myself, if you want.

The site is live and I won’t be able to switch themes. The theme is Kakia and it’s been customized for the client. I won’t be able to change it.

Why not? There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just basic troubleshooting – a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Your theme settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.

we normally work in a dev environment but were having issues with the dev site. I’ll have to check on the status of the dev site here and test off of that. It’s still hard to troubleshoot because I’m on a Mac and the problem is only on IE9.

I created a quick post on my test-blog with 6 of your vids in a table & tested that on IE8, seems to work OK (as in thumbnails are all loaded and videos play, there are some quirks but that’s due to CSS issues having all vids in a table).

This confirms, to me, that the problem is specific to your site Kurt, very likely due to the JS-errors I mentioned previously.

ok thanks for checking that. It works fine in IE10 and IE11 so we might just keep it and not worry about IE9 for now. Manager is considering and will probably discuss with client. Even so, once we get back a development environment and I can access this on a PC i’ll have another look and see if I can pinpoint what JS is causing conflict.

    best,
    Kurt

and yes I checked your test link on browserstack and confirm that it looks good in IE9 so it’s not a browser issue alone.

FYI; the (non-WP YouTube Lyte-)quirks kept on bugging me, so I moved away from a HTML-table to a simpler solution (each vid is in a div with display:inline-block) which now seems to works perfectly (and reponsive, as it’ll try to fit as many vids on one line as the theme allows). View source for info.
