My WP site (http://www.silverphotography.co.uk) seems to use a lot of resources and I am trying to figure out why.

Here is a screen grab of the resources log for the last few hours http://silverphotography.co.uk/personal_image_hosting/memory.gif

You can see that on a couple of occasions in the last 24 hours I have exceeded 1GB of memory usage and 100% CPU usage too! Even at other times the resource usage seems high I think – but then I don’t know what is normal – is this normal?

I am running the Photocrati theme with 10 active plugins:
    Contact Form 7
    Exclude Pages from Navigation
    Facebook Like Box
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    NextGEN Gallery
    Post-Plugin Library
    Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin
    Special Recent Posts FREE Edition
    WordPress SEO
    WP-reCAPTCHA

What is the best way of identifying the cause of such high memory and CPU usage?

I would really appreciate any help or advice that anyone could give, thanks!

When a WordPress installation is running hot it’s often a matter of an errant theme or plugin. Tracking that down can be challenging You might be able to do it via a process of elimination. That’s true for standalone or multisite.

Start with reading this article (and follow the links) and see if you can figure out what’s causing your installation to run hot like that.

Thanks t-p for your reply – I appreciate it. I downloaded the P3 Plugin Performance Profiler and gave it a whirl. It showed consistently that a very large percentage of the download time for a page was taken up by a Google Analytics plugin I was using (over 50%). I have deleted that plugin and added the code directly into my theme now so we can see if that helps!
