• Using the attachment taxonomies to have galleries that automatically build itself thanks to the [mla_gallery] shortcode is such a joy! Thanks so much for this plugin, David. I have no doubt that a lot of people will LOVE you for it! 🙂

There’s one thing I would like to suggest: add an option to show the last 10/20/whatever items that have been added to the media library. That could be used for a “new arrivals” items list, “latest images” gallery, and so on.

Maybe via another shortcode, like [mla_gallery_latest number=”20″] or something like that.

    Just an idea.

    Thanks for looking! 🙂
    Alexander.

    Alexander,

Thanks for the kind words and for the suggestion. I’m happy to say that you can do this now with the existing [mla_gallery] shortcode.

For example, if you want to create a gallery of the three most recent image uploads, you can use:

    [mla_gallery post_parent=all orderby=date order=desc posts_per_page=3]

The query parameters select all of the attachments (post_parent=all), sort them by upload date (orderby=date), put the most recent uploads first (order=desc) and then limit the gallery to three items (posts_per_page=3).

You can add any other critera you need to build a gallery of the “latest” attachment items in the library.

I hope that answers your question. Please let me know if you need more information or have any problems getting what you want. Thanks for using the plugin!

Oh wow! Thanks for the swift response. I blushingly admit that I, most apparently, have yet to grasp the full power of your wonderful plugin and the shortcode’s options. 🙂

Thank you very much – this is awesome!
