• i realized that sometimes, when i leave a comment on another blog, i forget to come back and see what’s the answer to my comment..
i know that this could be solved using RSS FEEDS, but not everybody knows how to use them (sometimes WHAT rss feeds are!), so… why not to hack wordpress to let the visitor choose (by checking a checkbox, for example) to receive an email when someone replies to his comment?
    would it be nice?

  • Options .. General Blog Settings
require_name_email and comments_notify set to True.
    Should do the job ?
(and the RSS feed option is also there unless the blog owner has removed that info from the comments file(s) )

yeah but.. won’t these settings notify the blog admin only for new comments?
i mean something that notifies the visitor who leaves the comment that someone has replied him..

I agree with gat, this would be a neat feature. Part of the infrastructure is of course already in place beacause WP does email the blog admin on certain events, as well as emailing a new user once they sign up. Good idea though…too bad I can’t code…

I’d love to see this added as a hack or implemented as an option in a later release of WP.
Like wantmore, I don’t do code very well…

it should work like LJ. authors should not get mails related to comments they themselves post. and other people get an optional mail when a new reply is posted.
