I've gone around and manually fixed many of my friends MU/MultiSite themes that have timthumb employed and I saw some common patterns so I've gone around and wrote a little tutorial (still revising) on fixing the timthumb.php issue.

I just wanted to release it into the public and to see if it worked for anyone, if I'm poorly stating anything, or if I'm on the right track. Any constructive comments or questions would be awesome.

I'm in the the process of making a video on fixing the issue as well.

  2. Two thumbs up. :)

  3. Don't you mean TimThumbs Up? ;)

  4. Yes, indeed I do.

Additional to the "TimThumb WordPress MU/MultiSite QuickFix" (which was catered to modifying an existing theme), I just published a tutorial for designers to create MU/MultiSite friendly themes that have timthumb.php enabled!

Adding TimThumb to Your WordPress MU or MultiSite Theme

    Tell me what you think!

  6. The only point of contention I have is calling it a multisite theme. Themes are the same in WordPress, multisite, wpmu, network or not. all the default theme functions specific to a single wordpress install works exactly the same in a network.

It just confuses the newbies and makes them think they need a "special" theme when they really don't. ;)

For the truly lazy (like me), here's a "drop in" version that works with multisite without needing to update the theme.

  11. You don;t fix the timthumb file - you fix where it is called in the theme.
