   Seriously, this is frustrating. I feel like I'm having major issues. Certain plugins won't work and my scheduled posts in 2010 won't publish. WordPress OGs please help!

   Have you checked if your plugins are compatible with 2.9.1? You should do that bit of homework before hiring someone. I myself have not gone past version 2.8.4 because of that reason.
