    In Options > Reading, set '3 posts paged' to show only 3 posts
    Then use the <--more--> tag to display only the text you want to show.

    or you can use the Excerpt template tag.... will require a little tweaking in the index.php file, but just as doable.

    Let's see if this works. I believe I have the correct syntax below for these two useful tags, <!–-nextpage--> and
    <!–-more-->, which are not part of the HTML language. They can be accessed through Quicklinks as you write or edit a post:
    <!–-nextpage-->
    <!–-more-->
    More - this tag adds a <!–-more--> tag to your post, which puts in a “more… link and puts the rest of your post on another page
    page
    Page - this tag adds a <!–-nextpage--> tag to your post, which con<!–-nextpage-->
    <!–-more-->tinues your post on a second page.
    Some documentation makes it look like the correct syntax is <!-more-> or <--more-->. Sometimes bulletin board software automatically turns two hyphens into one dash.
