I have performed the obligatory search and cannot find exactly the information I seek, therefore I find I must post.

I run a small website that I use to help teach various computer courses. I would like to offer to host a small blog site for my students but, since I am new at this myself, have no idea how to proceed or even if it is feasable. I would not be doing this as a commercial venture as I have too many other things going on right now.

Any helpful information on how to do this would be appreciated.

  • You say host a web-site–does that mean one web-site in which all students participate or would each student get their own blog.

If one web-site, then WordPress would work. If you want a blog for each student then you’d either have each person install a copy of WordPress or you could resort to WordPressMU http://mu.wordpress.org/

Since it is my host, each student cannot install their own copy, so I wil investigate WordPressMU. Thank you.

OK, I have downloaded, installed, and tested the WordPressMU software and it appears to do what I want it to do.

My only question now is, what are the default file size and graphics storage limitation differences between what I’ve installed and WordPress.com? Or is this another area where I will have to ask over there?

Both MU and WP.com have their own support forums:

    Thank you, will ask there.
