Like most bloggers I write my posts ahead of time and schedule them for publication. WordPress does this very well for individual posts, but it gets tough when I manage my calendar of multiple posts. I commonly run into days when I thought I had something and didn't as well as days where I am double-booked.
I couldn't find one, so I want to write a new WordPress plugin to support an editorial calendar. My vision is a new option in the Posts part of the navigation menu called Calendar. The editorial calendar shows you all of your posts and lets you drag and drop them around in the calendar to change the publication date.

Try it out live
I've made a simple prototype of the calendar here: WordPress Editorial Calendar. This will give you the chance to play with the calendar. You can scroll up and down using your mouse wheel, and up and down arrow keys, or the page up and page down keys. You can also drag and drop posts to change the date.
I need your help to make this plugin as good as possible. The first question is would you like something like this? If you would like a WordPress calendar please tell me how you would use it. Specific feature requests are good, but stories of how you would use it are even better. Here is mine.
I'm a frequent blogger and the sole author of my blog. I normally plan my posts out 1-2 months in advance. I want to create a new post, save a draft, and then switch to the calendar and set the date of publication. I often move my posts around so I want an easy way to drag and drop to change the publication date of a post.
Please help me make this plugin better by checking out the prototype and letting me know how you think it should work.
This project will also be open source. If you are interested in contributing code or helping to test the plugin please contact me and let me know.
