Hi,
I just downloaded wordpress thru the one click install on Dreamhost. I did it because I understood I could rebuild a website. It's for a non profit organization. However, everything I see has to do with making a blog. I don't want a blog, I want a regular website.
I can't figure out how to get the "blog" look off.
I can't figure out how to name and link my pages. Ex: Home, about us, contact us, etc.
Plz advise. I do NOT want a blog. Was I wrongly informed that you can create a regular website? If not, plz tell me how to do it?
Thank you!

If your theme has custom menus, you can edit them in Appearance -> Menus and add links to your pages there.

Thanks :-) I have figured out how to put a static front page on and also how to use custom menus. what I can't figure out is how to get the other blog stuff off my theme.
Are there any wordpress thems available that don't cater to the blog look, but rather just look like a regular website?
What stuff specifically do you want to get rid of?
You can disable comments somewhere in the discussion settings as well, if that's one of the blog features you don't want.

Thanks, I did find some website themes that catered more toward the website look instead of the blog look. I think I'm heading in the right direction. :-)

ab4lcrystal,
Unfortunatly, I never did really find any themes geared more toward the website look, rather than the blog. I thought I had found some, but they weren't really what I was looking for. I would still love some help from anyone on this forum if they know of any great wordpress templates that are NOT blog orientated, but would work good for nonprofits.
Try the theme at http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/responsive. It is a pretty good one for a website based on WordPress.

I too would like to know how to install a hyperlink into my website - not a blog. I am using the Response theme and my php (whatever that is) has been upgraded to 5.3.1.
1. I go to edit page, text mode.
2. Click on link symbol, link tab with a line underneath
3. Paste copied URL in the pop-up box
4 Click on open in new window, add link and update page.
What am I doing wrong?
Help, anyone?
