i use wordpress to create my blog. but i honestly don't know where it's located or how to find it. i just contacted my hosting company and told them i wanted to use wordpress when i started my blog and they said ok, and put a link on my website. then i started posting.

i heard that i should upgrade to 2.0, which sounds good. but now i read that to do that i need to backup up my database and files, but i have no idea where these are located. neither does my hosting company.

can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks, joy (yes, i am as clueless as i sound)

ummmm, i just don't know. i can ask my hosting company (bigfolio.com)

to post images i just put them on a different site, then link from my blog to that site. to write on my blog i just use my login and password that was sent to me FROM my website. my guess is that someone at my hosting company sent me the user name and password.

    sigh.

I suggest you ask your host to perform the backup/upgrade.

If they decline, then you must have at least FTP access to the site to have any hope of upgrading.

Hmmm... the cheapest plan $25/mo and they don't know where the DB is? and for that money they give you 1GB monthly bandwidth?

    vaamyob et al,

i NEVER intend to run away from bigfolio - in fact, just the opposite. turns out i was trying to blog on my childrens' website, not my bigfolio website. i was confused when i typed it, and i should have said my 'other' hosting company. but since they have since resolved the issue for me, i won't be posting their name.

bigfolio is nothing but AMAZING. i love their sites, their customer service and their product overall. i never intended to bash them!

    sorry to cause any confusion.

    lol
let's not forget you receive only 100MB for your images, in a photo gallery type theme!

i think they're trying to play the "network solutions" scam on people...

    Joy?? you're getting ripped off...

give it a rest. i'm thrilled with their service, the amount of space i have is way more than i need, i love the ability to choose between different themes when i want to change my site.

i run a successful business, i don't have time to do every little thing myself to save a coupla bucks. quality and style are important to me. bigfolio is all that and more.

if you have thoughts about this particular problem i posted about, rock on.

but if you just want to sound off, telling me unhelpful info, please refrain.

    joy
