I had an older version of wordpress. I forget which version, and if that is relevant to help me I'll look that up for you.
But, I upgraded to 2.6.2 and what I did was I installed my new version of WP to a new directory. Before it was http://www.abc.com/abc/ and now it is http://www.abc.com/123/ . Sorry for the details, just being clear.
I had a bunch of postings within my old blog. Yay yay yay. But now that I have a new version of WP, 2.6.2, I would like to move or transfer my posts from my old blog to this new one.
Question is, could someone please tell me:
- which files I need to copy over to the new directory from the old? Is it possible?
- If I copy over a couple files will the postings just automatically populate within this new version of WP?
No, you did NOT upgrade your blog. You installed another blog. That's not the same. You did the wrong thing.
Here is how you upgrade: Upgrading_WordPress_Extended

Right. So I guess my terminology was wrong. You're right, I did install a new blog, within a new directory. I did this mainly because the files with in my old directory weren't managed very well.
I wouldn't mind upgrading my old blog, its just I already have this new one set up and was wondering if I could just transfer a few files from my old directory so it would populate all my old posts.
No it doesn't work that way. you have to transfer the database to do that if you want posts...

So, just an update incase anyone ever has this problem.
I was able to recover all my previous posts. So when mrkingid told me I need to transfer databases in order to get posts I realized that I just need to go into the database manually to extract the posts.
I went into my MySQL database ( I use godaddy ) and then I just ran a query on all the fields. I exported it into an excel sheet and viola! I had all of them. I'm sure there is any easier way but I'm just glad to have all my content back.
