   ok well 1st off im noob, so it might just be a really easy step that i dont know about.

   Here is what i did: Bought domain name from yahoo, hosting from godaddy. Still waiting (its been 24h) for the site to forward to my hosting. NEXT i dled wordpress uploaded it through the client in godaddy. I clicked on MySQL and created one and got mysqlxx.xxx.xx whatever, i'm not sure if i am supposed to touch the database stuff in the manager. NEXT i configured the file with all the same usernames and PW and i changed localhost to xx.xx.xx from godaddy.

   Now, first of all when i go to the server to install the adressbar reads as follows: Its an IP xx.xxx.xx.x/wordpress. Now i add /wp-install.php and i get this message: 421 anonymous logins are not allowed here (FTP was found in etc/ftpusers)

   BTW: i have all the files in a folder on the server under the name wordpress.

   i got something to work one but it was all jibberish... WHAT DO I DO???

   I forgot... it is on a linux server so it has everything. Please remember, i am pretty noob at this So simple steps i might have just not done at the beggining...

   I've never tried to install wp using the IP you get before your domain name resolves. Also, you need to be adding wp-admin/install.php rather than what you posted there.... try that instead....

   Actually it is yoursite.com/wp-admin/install.php

   Did you try to run install from here?

   The requested URL http:// was not found on this server.

   the nameserver hasnt gone through yet.. ill try the /install

   i tried /wordpress/wp-admin/install.php and i still get that error

   At the address I linked above I see this:
   It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

   i dont see anything i get a 404 error

   could it be possible that i just need to wait for the domain to link to the hosting?

   i am thinking it has something to do with ANONOMYS logins are not allowed

   1. Probably it would be a wise thing to wait for the domain name to propagate
   2. I don't understand why did you have any ftp message in the browser when you tried to run the install.

    delete the "ftp://" from the address :)
    in the browser you go by "http://"
    (too bad I didn't bet... )

    now i get:

    Not Found
    The requested URL /wordpress/wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    :D I know it's probably something really stupid...

    It works for me. Did you try it? If it doesn't work for you, it's a matter of propagating the address.

    Go there, press CTRL and F5 together.

    sorry to bother you guys again.. but i cant seem to get back in :( i get another 404 error

    You just don't have any posts (I assume you deleted the one that comes with the install.) Make a post!

    Cached version on your computer? I don't know.
    Or you just used a wrong address (for example clicking on your name here in the forum gives a big Forbidden error :)

    alright... i just put all the files in the main directory, so im guessing i should just wait a bit until i can log in again and fix it, or do i have to redo it

    Don't just move around the files without thinking :)
