I need TLS auth for smtp server

Hi, I’ve got the wp-phpmailer plugin from
http://www.coffee2code.com/archives/2004/06/28/plugin-wpphpmailer/
, and it works fine.
But I want to send my mail from gmail, it need tls Authentication to smtp.
Is there someone hacked this plugin and made it work with tls?
