I need an ecommerce plugin with email order form and no shopping cart! (9 posts)

I'm building an online shop for a client with an unusual requirement: he doesn't want customers to be able to buy products 'direct', he just wants customers to send an email-based order form if they want to buy a product. He needs the functionality of a shop (in order to manage the product catalogue) but not the shopping cart or 'buy now' buttons.

I've been reading through all the info on dozens of ecommerce plugins, but it's nearly impossible to work out which ones will do this effectively, without installing them all, one by one!

Can anyone help? Thanks very much!

Hey, I've got the same problem. Did you find anything good?

If you leave the price blank for products, there will be no "add to cart" button. Then, all you have to do is put a contact form on each product. If you want something quick and easy, there's the product enquiry form from Woothemes or you could probably do the same thing for free using contact form 7 with the dynamic text extension.

HI, thanks for this bheadrick. I've moved forward since posting this. Leaving the price blank was not an option for my client unfortunately. Also, I did discover the product enquiry form from Woothemes, this 'sort of' did what I wanted but was a bit tricky to customise (for me anyway).

In the end I found a compromise: I installed a full online shop plugin - Woocommerce - and used their 'cheque' payment Gateway, which I renamed to 'payment after order processing'. I kept the 'add to cart' feature so that customers can show their interest in several products in one go (whereas if you use the product enquiry form from WooThemes the customer has to fill in a form for every product, as far as I can tell).

    Hope this helps, Yuval180

oh, it just occurred to me that you could also set all the products inventory level to "out of stock" and change the "out of stock" text to something like "contact us for more info" using a filter
