   I need a calendar system that the public can register and submit their own events.

   The submitted event would await moderator approval before being posted.

   1. easily edited
   2. allow readers to add their own event
   3. searchable
   4. sidebar widget to show events in month view with pop-outs

   You can try this plugin.

   If that one isn't exactly what you want, then you can try some other calendar plugins.
