I was going through my plug ins and deleted wp cahce by mistake & now my site is totally blank. Yahoo said they will atempt to help, but what if they cannot is there anyway that i can get my site back the way it was. it has been a lot of time put in and i will be totally crushed if i cannot. my site is http://thechicfactory.com I am at a total loss, i am no good at FTP and things of that nature

You were using a cache plugin? Turn it off in the plugin tool on the admin side.

Posted 2 years ago #i cannot see anything, it is confusing me everything is white :( dashboard, create new post the site everything a blank white canvas. the plug in was called wp cache and it was deactive, so i was just deleting deactivated plug ins and somehow that one deleted everything completely i am confused, with no site

Posted 2 years ago #All that did was send me to a page woth little information. My question if my site is already a blank slate that I totally cannot access then what. Yahoo told me that only word press would b able to help. I'm confused

You have to log into your site via FTP and EDIT the wp-config.php file, removing the line numeeja said.
Also, you may need to delete the plugin folder for your caching plugin, but since you said:

I told you it was time to learn and sent you to the instruction page with a somewhat brief overview of how to use FTP with WordPress.
I repeat, you need to learn FTP. You're GOING to need this knowledge if you're a self-hosting WordPress. The only alternative is to find someone you trust and give them your server ID and password. Personally, I think that learning FTP is pretty simple and you will never again have to depend on 'someone else' fixing your site. You can learn to do it yourself :)

Posted 2 years ago #Brandireggie, There a several ways of doing the edit, but this is what I would recommend for simplicity:
- Install an ftp client application to the mac or pc I'm using if one is not already installed
- set up a connection to the web space using the connection details supplied by the web host
- connect to the webspace and download the wp-config.php from the WordPress installation to the desktop of my mac or pc
- edit the wp-config.php in a text editor and save it
- upload the edited version to replace the original copy
This is the kind of thing I do very often on the sites I manage, so its easy for me but I understand its not so easy if you have never had to do it before, especially if your site is down.
