   Hi,

   I was helping my friend make some minor changes to his site, but instead of helping I changed a setting and broke it, badly.

   The first thing I was trying to fix was changing the home page from lukeheggie.com/wp to lukeheggie.com.

   I changed a setting for the WordPress URL, and now I can't login to the site's admin dashboard thing. Trying to access http://lukeheggie.com/wp-login.php produces a 404 error "The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server."

   I've searched the forums, and these two topics seem to address the same problem: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-requested-url-wp-loginphp-was-not-found-on-this-server; http://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-requested-url-login-was-not-found-on-this-server-1?replies=20

   However, I don't have the experience and knowledge to follow the suggestions offered, and I'd really appreciate some more detailed instructions.

   For example, how exactly do I use phpMyAdmin to access the database? Do I need to install it on the server, or on my local machine?

   My friend says his website is hosted by MDWebHosting.

   Any info or advice would be much appreciated.

   you don't have to access database - use one of these other methods

   move it properly
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_Within_Your_Site
   or
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

   Thanks for the info Samuel, I'll give it a crack when I've get access to the files on the server where the website is hosted.
