i have been getting spam comments from free online poker so people told me to upgrade my site to wp 1.2.1. i tried following the directions but i think i may have messed up. nothing's working and i fear i may have lost all of my blogs and links.
    my site is: http://distance.69thstreet.org/blog/
the error message i get when i try to log onto the site is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: convert_chars() in /home/thstreet/public_html/distance/blog/wp-includes/template-functions-general.php on line 8
i don't know what i'm doing with php and my sql. i just hope i didn't screw this up beyond repair and, thanks in advance for the help.

thstreet, i just made the upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.2.1 about 3 days ago...Have you run the upgrade.php yet? Heh, I forgot to do that with all the excitement of upgrading and origianally feared I had messed up what was a stable version of my site. If you have run the upgrade.php, come back and we'll try something else....My AIM is suido2 if you want to contact me real time.

Oy. So, to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.2.1, you upload the 1.2.1 files (except those you don't want to overwrite), and *then* run upgrade.php?

Diane - normaly that's how an upgrade works. In this case, going from 1.2 to 1.2.1 the step isn't necessary as the only change were in the files. The Upgrade.php file is provided for when there are database changes. Most of us have simply gotten into the habit of running it everytime, even if it's not necessary.
