I've been trying to get the Akismet spam plugin to work and it says I need an API key. I've looked at all of the FAQs about finding where to find it but I still cannot locate mine and I'm starting to wonder whether 'own' installations of WP have API keys...
Can anyone help?
As the Akismet documentation states, you get your API key from wordpress.COM. Yes, signing up there gives you a free hosted blog. No, you need not ever use it -- but that's where you'll get the API key to use with your own install of WordPress.
