• Hi!

I am working on the site (on subdomain) new.recondoil.com. The templete is “Pinboard” by One Designs. But I DONT want this site to be responsive when I look at it on my cellphone! It really dont look good! How can I evade it? I want it to be a “usual site” even on my phone….:(

    Best regards E.

  • Maybe you should look for a non-responsive theme then. It’s impossible to turn a responsive theme into a non responsive one, it would involve too much work

It’s not too much work if everyone pitches in little CSS fixes at at time.

I’d argue that this level of changes is beyond the remit of these forums – especially given that there are so many free, fixed-width, themes to choose from.

I have worked with themes where I could choose responsive / non respnsiv with a simple check box, so it SHOULD be a fairly easy way “back-end”? Or?

But ok then….. If you look at this site on your cellphones (new.recondoil.com), can you see it looks no good?
Do you guys have no idea what I can do to keep it lokk better? The slideshow for example? I is an empty white space under the slideshow where the navigations are. How can I fix this then?

I suggest that you read the answers that are already given to you, and that you either switch to another theme, that you get some knowledge of CSS, and more important: Child Themes.

Make yourself a Child Theme and do some minimal CSS fixes to make the site look the way you want it.

You’ve got a free theme, but it is only 90% what you wanted. Why are you whining? It was free! If you have the money, pay the maker and have it extended. If that’s not worth it, learn about Child Themes and CSS and do it yourself.

You might realize that you’re sounding like a spoilt brat.

    Excuse me?
I dont know if it is my bad english that make me sound like a “spoilt brat”??
    Thats REALLY not my intention….
I just wanted to get some advices if there was some way I could do this? Wanted to learn.

I dont know what to say now……

But… thank you for your answers… Will not ask anymore… *confused*

@ha_ulrich, please try to keep a friendly attitude on these forums. We do not want people to feel bad asking for help.

(For your information; I am an 39 year old “auntie”, and this is my work. I usually pay for my themes, and the only reason I was choosen this one, was that I really liked it for this job…. Then this question came up and I thougt I could ask you in this forum. Sorry..)

    @erika :
If you still need to stop responsive behaviour on pinboard theme, there is an easy way (given by daniel tara, author of the theme).
    The easy way is :
Open style.css located in the installation folder of pinboard (\wp-content\themes\pinboard).
Then delete from line begining to “@media screen and” […] and codes in the braquet {}.

In your case, open the file, search for “@media screen and”, the first occurence will be highlighted, select all form there untill the end of the file.
Then delete all untill the end of the file. Save the file and upload it.

Well first of all, it wasn’t my intention to be rude to you. I appreciate your efforts, but keep in mind that already 3 people gave you clues, and you keep asking the same question. I may have used some words that come across more offensive than I would interpret them. I’m not a native English speaker.

What I mean is that often, if you ask yourself first what you want to accomplish, you can find it more easily on Google than that you ask it here and wait for an answer for a day or more. There’s so much you can try out yourself without breaking it – and with the trial-and-error, you learn more of the system, too.

If it’s your work, I’d really advise you to try some things out and get familiar with it. So please don’t stop asking, but don’t stop exploring either! Good luck.

I’m really sorry that this post turned into a flame, unfortunately I wasn’t able to follow the thread. In any case, I’ve looked at the website and in my opinion it would be less work (or at least the same) to turn it into a fully responsive theme than to turn it into a non-responsive one. The main problems are with the navbar and with the footer in my opinion, the slider is responsive, and also the header. The content boxes could be managed in a better way but they are fine enough.
It could be a good way for you to learn how responsive design works.

Turned into a flame, I beg you pardon?

I really do not like to be put away as someone who flames, which I’m not. On contrary (I’ve been a well-respected moderator of a largely visited Dutch graphics forum for 3 years).

I’m trying to point you in the right direction here, which was about time after ignorance of 3 helpful posts and use of capitals in the title.

Again, if this is your work, your job, be motivated to learn what you are actually doing. That makes it also easier to explain your clients why things do or do not work as they would like to see it. Again, I mean it well.

Of course I’ve tried to solved it by myself first, and l do have googled… Yes, that right. 1 have to learn more and I am going to, but this was one way to try to solve it this time. Can 1 ask a moderator to delete this thread please. It was a mistake to write the adress to my customer when the conversation turned this way… please? Best regards Erika.

It is not the general policy to edit or delete forum posts. When a post is made and people contribute answers to an issue, that then becomes part of the community resource for others to benefit from. Editing or deleting posts removes this added value. In extreme circumstances, the moderation team might be persuaded to remove sensitive information but. generally, your best course of action is not to publish anything that you wouldn’t want to be public.

I’m sorry but this is not an extreme case.
