The navigation i feel is really confusing! Ok i just installed wordpress and it on the default theme. I downloaded a WP theme from a different site. I just edited and uploaded the files to my host but it still shows the default theme. So i dont know if i did that wrong. And where do you go to add posts? And can you create your whole website using word press? Because i wanted to create a new site and just have a blog as the home page! As i said before, this site navigation really confuses me and i am getting lost, please help!

You need to go to http://www.YOURSITE.com/wp-admin to do anything with regards to changes to your site. There, at the top, you will see links that say "Write" and "Presentation". Write is, obviously, where you write posts. In Presentation you can select the new theme you just uploaded.
Also, you should read some of the articles on the Codex.

Posted 6 years ago #Oh ok, thank you! The only problem is when i go to that url for my site, it does not show what it is supposed to. It has the hosts default page! Why is this?

like say http://sims2crave.com/wp-adminIf you have installed wordpress on a directory other than your root (public_html) you must include this in your path!!
for example http://sims2crave.com/wordpress/wp-admin

Does your host have the web server setup to recognize index.php as a default page?

Posted 6 years ago #Hmm i guess it doesnt. I mean i just started this new site so i havent made any other pages, all i have uploaded is the word press stuff! So how do i know if that is the default page or whatever? I am using a free plan from byethost

quick test: go to http://www.yourdomain.com/blog/wp-admin/index.php
{change http://www.yourdomain.com/blog/ to match where you actually ahve the blog, of course}
Does that make things better? If it does, then contact the host to make index.php a default page -- or, if your host offers cpanel or something similar, maybe you can do that yourself.

Posted 6 years ago #Oh ok that doesnt work. Since im a free plan i dont think they will care about my problems?! Well do you know a good host? I was looking at the host pages and BlueHost was the cheapest, only 6.95. Does anyone know if that is a good host or not? Or a different host i should use?

Sims, I don't understand what you mean by "the default page." Could you please give us the web address for your site.
Also, if you installed wordpress into a folder, can you give us the nameof that folder? I.e. it may have been the stock "wordpress" folder you got with the download.

That URL seems to point to your WP install.
PS: How is the bytethost service? Do they use cpanel? What kind of signup process is it? How are their features? Would you recommend them?

Posted 6 years ago #I dont know how there is a redirect since i havent uploaded any pages except for wordpress files. I havent even made a home page ?_?
Im using Byethost free account which i think is nicer than the other free hosts. There is a control panel. All you have to do is signup and within 10 minutes you can start uploading. So i guess its good but if only i could get this problem sorted out...
