I changed the template, and it seems the google analytics is off (6 posts)

Yesterday, I changed my wordpress template and today when I checked the google analytics, it seemed way lower than normal (by several hundred page views). However, the google adsense seemed normal, with the correct amount...

I changed the template yesterday, and wondered, could it take some time for google analytics to adjust? Did google analytics make a mistake? (I know one time when the adsense make a mistake!)

I know in theory, changing the template should NOT change the google analytics. Thoughts?

where did you add your analytics code in the first place?

as far as i remember, the code would be added to header.php or footer.php, which would obviously dissappear when you change the theme.

or did you use a plugin to add the analytics code?

    hey alchymyth,

I know this is bad to say, but I cannot remember. I installed wordpress and consequently, the analytics the following day over SIX months ago...

I know that I see a plugin that says "google Analytics"

My guess would be I Would have used a plugin because I 'm not a coder. So, a plugin would have been easier for me...

I'll find out in a day or two... Ie if i wake up in the morning and analytics show no one came, then I know something is wrong...

In addition, it seems like I cannot add any page numbers to the bottom of the page regardless of the plugin. I used several plugins... So, I'm starting to think it MIGHT be the template...

I know that other plugins WORK FINE with this template... ie, my video and photo plugin are fine. There were no changes on that...

    thoughts?

    thanks...

hey, I woke up this morning and said only 11 people went to my blog, that is inaccurate...

Hence, i must have installed the analytics manually into the footer... It was six months ago...

I like this template (for the time being)...

I ahve to reinstall google analytics... do you think I should do it manually, or use a plugin? If I should use a plugin, which do you recommend?

    i suppose in your case, a plugin would be preferable;

however, i hardly use ready-made plugins (other than to disect the code), and haven't used any analytics plugin, so i can't recommend any.

    have a look at:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=analytics
and maybe trust the user's ratings
