I cant seem to upload wordrpess to the site

    I am rubbish at this stuff! I use wordpress but I previously installed it through fantastico and a friend wants me to upload it to their new domain name. I have the ftp details and i’m reading the installation notes, but I just cant seem to get it to work. When I click on …wp-admin/install.php I’m just getting a page error. Am I uploading it to the wrong part of the site? All I have when I log in through the ftp is the first folder with another folder called “web” which only has a “stats” folder in it.

    When I upload the unzipped wordpress files into here it just doesnt seem to work. I have followed the notes and changed the config.php file.

    Can someone please help me?!!! I’m so useless!!!

    Are the wordpess files in the top level folder of your host, or are they in a folder called “wordpress”? What page error are you getting? A 404?

    thanks for getting back to me so quickly 🙂

    strangely enough, the second after i posted this, i got further clicking on the install.php… but the wordpress box comes up saying that there must be a problem with my config file! grrr!!!

    I’m trying it again and have checked the mysql details, password and username but it just doesnt seem to be working.

    any tips?! i feel useless!!!

    Check wp-config and check again. Ask your host to be sure of the mysql server address.
