I am not sure if that is the right version or not, but after I tried to install the 3.1.1 and now I cannot login. Please help!

After what? And why were you installing 3.1.1?

Posted 3 months ago #Um sorry that may be the wrong update #. All I know is there was a reccomendation at the top of my screen that told me to update and one day I was like, yea ok I can update!
But now I am locked out. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

What version of WordPress were you running before the update? Did you make a database backup as you were advised to do by the upgrade notice?

You should never try to carry out a 1-click upgrade if you are using an older version of WordPress (where older = less than 3.0). I'm not sure if this will work now but try:
- switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
- re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.
