I can’t delete the wp-content folder … I uninstalled wp-super-cache but

I can’t delete the wp-content folder … I uninstalled wp-super-cache but The cache was still in the wp-content folder and my site was messed up. I did a complete reinstall including redoing the db. Even after this I still have a cache folder in the wp-content folder. In order to get the site working I had to rename the wp-content folder to wp-content-x and reload a wp-content folder from original install files. I can not delete the wp-content-x file. It goes away as if it is gone but when I come back to the root folder it is back. I want this file gone. How can I get rid of it???
