I can edit, but I can't save my changes. (5 posts)

Wow - now *here's* something new.

I'm working on my 2.5.1 site, and I have not touched the core files since I've uploaded them several months ago. I was working on the theme last week, and everything was going fine.

Today, I open her up to continue working on my theme files, and I cannot update them. I can open them, and edit them, but when I hit the "update" button, I am immediately returned to the front page fo the theme editor. Edits are lost, no changes are made, I'm just redirected to the from page of the theme editor.

So I make all my changes and FTP them. I got to edit an existing post. I make changes and click "Save" and I'll be damned if I'm not returned to the listing of all my posts. No changes saved...just redirected to the "Write>Posts" page. When I edit a Page - same thing happens - just redirected to "Write>Post" and all edits lost.

I have checked my server error logs, and there is *nothing* there - literally. It's a pristine white canvas. I switched the theme to default - nothing. I deactivated all plugins - nothing. I deleted everythign on the server, downlaoded a fresh copy of 2.5.1, and uplaoded. Nothing.

    I'm out of ideas.

Would anyone know why it's doing this? I have never in my life seen anything like this happen before. I *could* upgrade to 2.6.1, but that would mean I'd need to check my theme files and all my plugins before I could do that - and I *just* got finished with it all being compatible with 2.5.1. I'd rather not have to do all of that again.

I'd love any advice or nudges on what I need to check. This is really bizarre. Normally when something "suddenly" stops working, I look at what it is I've done before - but that's not the case right now. I was messing with it last week and everything was fine. I start messing today, and it's not.

    Thanks!

Hokay. So I upgraded the installation to 2.6.1 - and the same problem occurs. Absolutely clean installation of the filesystem - I wiped everything first and then installed it. No plugins, no themes, brand new files - and I still cannot update anything. It'll let me edit the files to my heart's content, but when I hit that "Update" button, it just takes me back to the index of whatever area I'm managing and saves absolutely nothing.

With the theme files and such, that's fine - I can just FTP the changes in. But I can't even edit posts - and going into the database and manually change things (like spelling errors or something) through phpMyAdmin is not an option here - and besides, doing that would render the use of WordPress pretty pointless.

This is *really* weird. If *anyone* has some kind of suggestion or anything for me as to where I should start looking, it would really be appreciated.

Oh goody - and even more fun. I just tried to create a brand-new category, and got "An unidentified error has occurred". Just for fun, I tried to create a new post - and the exact same thing happened. So now I can't even add anything new to this. Again, checking error logs shows nothing - it's absolutely pristine.

Aha! That's odd. Okay, the error log in cPanel shows nothing, but when I downloaded it from the server, I have this error:

[30-Aug-2008 09:30:20] PHP Warning: Module 'ffmpeg' already loaded in Unknown on line 0
[30-Aug-2008 09:30:20] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613//usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613//usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/ffmpeg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

It's a holiday weekend, so the IT guy probably isn't in, but from what I can find on this error, it appears that maybe something has moved, and PHP can't find "ffmpeg"- or there's a misconfigured extension. I don't have access to php.ini, so I can't fix it myself, but if this turns out to be the case, then I'll report back in case anyone else has this issue.

still no fix for this - it's utterly bizarre...I've had a few people (not on these forums) tell me they've had the exact same issue, but no one seems to have a fix for it. Anyone out there have any ideas what could be going on?
