    Hi,

I am not great at computers but do try my very best and always willing to look for help and learn.

Basically, I am switching from 123reg to WordPress even though I am signed up until December.

I think I will have to buy a new domain name because my current one hasnt expired.

Basically I have a few questions.

I want to use the plug - in called s2member and from what I can gather I would need to sign up for wordpress.org and not .com for this, is that correct?

Also, I'm sure it was $99 for the year, is that correct too?

    Thanks in advance.

Any speedy, helpful replies would be very much appreciated.

I'm sorry but these forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your question on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

Yes, .ORG is for self-hosted sites.

I think I will have to buy a new domain name because my current one hasnt expired.

You can generally change the nameservers on a domain name, so unless you want a new one, you probably don't have to do that.

    Subscribe2 is free here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/

There may be paid versions - but you'll need to go to their site about that.

Thanks very much for your reply mate.

To get this started, I mean to get up and running with WordPress would I need to download the program to my laptop or could I do this on my iPad?

If you want the site to be online, you have to pay for hosting - or you can install it on a local computer (not an iPad).

    See:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

If it's online (on a hosted server), you don't need to install anything on your computer - it's all browser based. For iPad, you cna use the browser or there are mobile apps:

(Not sure how much development you can do with the apps...)

I definitely want it to be online.

I will get right onto this.

It's $99 per year, is that correct?

WordPress is free software - but hosting cost varies - that's not part of WordPress, so you'll need to do your own research on that question. But yes, $99 per year would probably be about average for shared hosting. In general, very cheap or free hosting is much more likely to be problematic - so that's not recommended.

123reg are not the best if I'm honest, our current website was down for 3 days and couldn't get any help.

    Thanks for your replies mate.

I will definitely get signed up.
