• All of a sudden, my external hyperlinks don’t open in a new tab or window but in the same one – even thought I’ve selected the ‘open in new tab’ box. Internal links do, but not external ones – the most important. Is this a glitch in WP??

Can you provide a link to your site please and give us an example of which link should open a new window?

Sure can – http://glenladegaard.com/goddessguide-cards/. The three external links are Michele Sumac Claiborne, GoddessGuides Facebook page and Love A Child Foundation. I’ve tried in two other browsers (I use Chrome) and it’s the same. Plus, a techie friend and another wp user both have the same issue.

Would anyone like to update me?

It looks like that’s because you have span tags inside the anchor tags:

    <a href="http://www.healingartsinternational.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #00ccff;"><span style="color: #00ccff;">Michele Sumac Claiborne</span></span></a>

I removed them in Firebug and then it opened in a new window.

A better way to change the color of the links is to use a class in the a tags and then external CSS for that class.

I just removed the entire html around the name, Michele Sumac Claiborne, updated it. Went back in and added the hyperlink without any colour, updated it and it still opens in same window.

Try disabling plugins to explore whether any could be responsible.

Any plugins in particular or all of them??

All of them please 🙂 You can always reactivate them afterwards.
