I have a temp site URL while I am setting up my WP as my domain name is being used by my current site. I want to set up hyperlinks on my WP so that users can move between pages easily. If I create the hyperlinks now with the temp URLs, when we transfer the WP site to the proper domain name, will the hyperlink URLs update automatically or do I need to manually change all the links after go-live?

The links will need to be updated manually. But don't fear to much. There's a couple of plugins floating around that can do that for you, but I personally use this Search & Replace tool. It'sa bit more techy, but it works just like you want it to.
