  • The first thing that loads is ads…
I thought this was spam at first because of it.

Plus, there’s little or no original content.

Check out my humor page humor.nvsounds.com (content by a friend)
There are only 2 joke posts, but they are both original jokes.

The high bounce rate is due to visitors discovering quickly that there isn’t anything on your site they haven’t seen before. As @littlerichie said “little or no original content”.

It’s like all those “funniest video” or “destroyed in seconds” programs. Some of those videos are 10 or 12 years old. Just repackaged and sold again. I don’t even tune into them anymore…nothing I haven’t seen several times before.

I’m not sure if videos there are 10 or 12 years old because I’m only embedding youtube videos of the day, viewing up to 100 videos an choosing only best, 20~30 second movies, and pictures are being picked from about 20 or 30 tumblr pages, also only the best, I’m not sure where should i generate content, because sites like funnyjunk.com are getting content from like thousands of users, but how to start? I also have upload section but nobody is going to upload if I don’t generate some user base..

http://humor.nvsounds.com/ i viewed this site and its very hard to read, if you need any review that is.. you should really do something with CSS

Funny thing, I´m making a humor site as well.

I don´t fully agree with not having original content necessarily being a bad thing. You seem to have a fine taste in humor.
As I see it there´s 2 ways to go about it:
    1. Write your own gags. The only thing that´s really important at such a time is to develop your own style. The jokes doesn´t have to be perfect as long as they have your own touch.
    2. You can collect quality humor that´s written by others. If you´re gonna do this you can´t gather any crap you find, you have to select the best things. That´s what´s important: quality.

    Good luck to you!

    Also: Remove the porn-spam.

Thank you for your review Loke! It’s very useful!

About the “porn-spam” its just popunder from “wahoha” content exchange thing, I just unchecked “sexy” and “celebrities” categories to show up there, so only related content is going to show up there, thank you once again!

Thanks for the feedback! I’m installing new fonts now.

I guess you could go either way with the “original content” issue. In the least, I would suggest commenting on it if it’s not original.

You need to work on the layout. it’s not very inviting.. Also move the side bar to the right.. it feels more comfortable as the eye naturally reads left to right.. Content should be on the left unless it’s a shopping site like Amazon where the first draw is the departments.

I could go on.. I’m in marketing so these things strike me right off the bat.

    Google, good website layout/ergonomics.

Thank you kenrik! I have changed the layout as you suggested, and also the style of my posts and the bounce rate decreased by almost 10% in a single day. It’ now 70% but mainly because of the quality of traffic from google images queries, the direct and referral traffik from partners have a bounce rate of 40 to 50% so i assume its okay, for a month old site I Have long way to go and many things to improve! Thank you again

Thank you Loke! I’ gonna work hard on it, now I’m think about categorizing pictures and adding a sidebar to navigate for only : fails, posters, animals and etc

Very nice site, but I would suggest getting rid of the vertical scrolling. You end up having to scroll so far down and you almost forget how far down you have gone. I would recommend a navigation system that keeps all the images at the top – either you click on buttons or a tab that make images move horizontally or vertically – but you don’t actually scroll down. I use a horizontal scroll-type platform – a carousel plugin – in my site – DomainStick.com. I have it on automatic slideshow now but it can also remain static. I saw a number of very interesting plugins in Theme Forest – in the Code Canyon section – that you might want to check out.

The only other thing that comes to mind is hierarchy. The top section contains too many small images – It would be great if you used a slider feature with one image presented as the larger visual focal point – and the smaller ones below in a row. You can do the same thing with the videos. Here, however, you have the opposite effect – too many large images and you have to scroll vertically to see each one in its totality. You could present one video and show the others as thumbnails below.

The theme I use – Prestige Light – comes with great slider options and it works with the Next Gen Gallery plugin, which is super popular. Hope this helps. You have some funny stuff there!
