• I have a variety of different permalink problems around my site, rather unhappy with this theme (Nostalgia) I have purchased and the author is useless:

    http://www.nyxdesign.com.au

    1) Blog Post Links

The biggest problem I’m having is in the Blog area. One thing I notice is that when I navigate to a single post the post’s name in the browser display is prepended with “Blog/” (after the site title and separator). I’d like to avert this, please, I don’t like it.

Additionally, it seems impossible to navigate directly to a blog post using its permalink. e.g. when I try to navigate to “http://nyxdesign.com.au/blog/test-post” it redirects to “http://nyxdesign.com.au/test-post” and the post doesn’t come up, it just stalls on the home page with the menu showing. This is a huge problem for me, I need to be able to link people directly to my blog posts as they will contain instructional and educational content.

In general, I’m just having a world of trouble with the Blog section.

I’ve noticed when you’re on Page 2 of the Blog pagination and you mouseover the link to a single post, the URL that shows is “http://nyxdesign.com.au/blog/page-2/blog/lorem-ipsum”. While it does navigate to the post OK, this to me just shows what a mess this permalink problem is in this unreliable difficult theme.

    2) Page Permalinks

For some reason my lowercase page titles are showing as title case in the browser display. i.e. “nyx design | About” rather than “nyx design | about”. I can’t see how this is possible when all of my pages are named in lowercase.

Oddly though, if I refresh while on a page it does then show up in lowercase as it’s supposed to (plus adds a forward slash to the end of the URL). This is no help though as I want it to look right in the first place when someone navigates to a page.

None of my above issues seem to be a problem in the theme’s demo you can navigate straight to individual posts, etc: http://quanticalabs.com/wp_themes/nostalgia/blog/lorem-ipsum/

  • This forum does not offer support for commercial themes.

If I were you, I would disable all plugins, then switch to the default theme, Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve, and reset the permalinks structure. Read up on permalinks here: Using_Permalinks

Then you can start piecing things back together, if you are still committed to using what sounds like a very flawed theme.

But for further support on that particular theme, you’re going to have to go to the author and/or the place you bought it from.
