Does this occur every time you upload? Or just sometimes?
When you upload images what size are they? Pixel dimensions & file size?
Where do your images come from. Camera / stock pics?
Do you edit them in a graphics app to reduce the file size before uploading them?

It sounds like the files are too big - try resizing them down to no more than 1024 pixels wide using an image editor before uploading them to test whether that makes a difference.

The problem is server based. I was having no issues until very recently. Using the solution under "'HTTP error' When Uploading Files"...

I was able to fix my problem properly.

Uh, I followed the instructions on the page that appeared between

    "'HTTP error' When Uploading Files"

    and

    "503 HTTP Errors"

The complete fix for me is inbetween those lines on the screen.

Can't make it any clearer. They tell you on the page how to fix it and what file it is.

If you can only get to it via FTP, then you likely can't fix this. This requires you to SSH (or telnet, if anyone uses it anymore), have root access to manipulate system files.
