Your hosting company is facing a server issue..., this can take a couple of minutes up to some hours/days, depending on your hosting provider. In case you are getting the 500 internal server whenever you try to visit a website, then you'll have a internet connection problem.

I would recommend you to contact the customer service of your host... the 500 internal server error can only be corrected by repairs/corrections on the web server software, not on the clients site!

    Try:
    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

-re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress 3.0.

I had an error like this and it was because the permissions on my files were screwy. Some were set to 777 and this caused the error. 755 solved it.
