htpasswd Support for wp-login.php

Hi,

I activate “Hide Login Area” (v4.3.9). Than my additional password protection via .htaccess auth/.htpasswd doesn’t work any more.

My .htaccess file (excerpt)
```
...
# protect wp-login.php
<files wp-login.php>
AuthName "Login Area"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /full/absolute/path/to/my/.htpasswd
require valid-user
</files>
```
I’d like to use both (hide login area and additional password protection ).
Is there any fix for that?

Hi Ingozoell,

I’ve also received your bug report. I spoke with the developer and he said it may be possible to do this, but it’s not officially supported. You’ll need to make adjustments to the htpasswd. Unfortunately this isn’t something that I’m familiar with so I can’t be of much help.

Hi stefaanvandamme,

1. FTP: Go into /wp-admin/
2. Create .htaccess file
3. Create .htpasswd file
4. Generate user and password: http://www.htaccesstools.com/htpasswd-generator/

.htaccess
```
AuthName "Admin Area"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /full/path/to/your/wp-admin/.htpasswd
require valid-user

<Files admin-ajax.php>
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    Satisfy any
</Files>
```
.htpasswd
```
YOUR-USER-NAME:YOUR-PASSWORD
```
