   I set up vhosts with XAMPP for locally testing multiple HTML sites. Now I've installed WP and will be running multiple sites from that.

   Am curious as to whether I should be installing the WP sites in the vhosts folder. As it is, I have set up one WP site in htdocs (following along on the various instructions I was able to find, none of which mentioned vhosts).

   I considered running WP Multisite, but it seems that means all blogs will be run out of the same database, which I don't want. Is that correct?

   If anyone has links for articles that intelligently compare and contrast the pros and cons of running multiple WP installs versus multisite, please share. I couldn't find much.

   that is correct as all sites are virtual

   I would say that the two main factors are: 1) shared user base and 2) super admin control
