   Working with 1and1 and its webspace explorer to edit the site director.
   I'm trying to implement custom permalinks. When I try to change the permission of the .htaccess from 644 to 755 I get "an error has occurred". When I try to delete it in order to upload a new .htaccess I get "An error occurred while the file app385750708/.htaccess was being deleted" and it doesn't delete the file. When I try to upload a new .htaccess I cannot and receive "The parent directory is read-only." Using 1and1 how can I create custom permalinks?

   contact your hosts for assistance. That's a server issue.
