    Hello,

I am receiving an internal error :500 code. CGI SCRIPT error after changing the permalinks to set up buddy press (current version).

    WIN XP
    XAMPP

Have read through the forum for possible solutions and have tried to:

  2. Uncommented [Rewrite module] and set Rewrite from NONE to ALL in apache/conf/httpd file.
Allowed Write/Read/Modify access on the wordpress dir & htaccess file.
  3. If I delete the htaccess file, Buddypress links throw a 404 error.

Is this a Apache server issue or a WordPress issue?

Your thoughts and encouragement are greatly appreciated. Would like to believe that I have the patience and intelligence to learn and move forward with your assistance.

    Thanks,
    John

  • It's not WordPress. It may be apache, and that is the most likely. Basically your .htaccess isn't being read correctly.

I know jack about XP for hosting, though, sorry.
