Hi All,
New here, but I thought I would start with a solution, just for a change. This solution goes out to the Artisteer users more than anyone else, but it may solve the problem for others.
if anyone else has or is having trouble with their .htaccess file in root dir on their server, when changing Permalinks, then I have a solution that worked for me.
After trawling the net for hours, trying to find a solution to not having my pages show and error messages when changing Permalinks to Custom: /%postname%/, I decided to take a different tack.
I uninstalled WordPress from my apps on my hosting server in CP and then reinstalled it. While in the default theme I created a test post and changed the Permalinks to Custom and then tried the pages link on the live site and it worked.
I then uploaded my theme template I had made in Artisteer and activated it. When I went to Settings in the Dashboard to change the Permalinks to try again, it had kept the Custom setting from the default template.
So I created a test page in my newly uploaded and unpopulated theme and tested the pages, and sure enough it worked and indeed had the postname in the URL and not the post number.
I hope this helps anyone else having similar difficulties.
Kind regards,
Simon.
