I'm having some trouble with a URL redirect and i can't understand whats up.

    Hoping someone can help me!

I have built a wordpress based site for someone, which shows up when visiting it via the non www. URL but finding attempting to access it with the www. URL brings up a page not found.

I have edited the .htaccess file, and have changed it to the same URL rewrite rule I use on my personal site which works perfectly. But on this site it does not work and i still get the page not found error.

The old site was hosted by a friend of his from a website builder program (thats all he's managed to explain to me). Is there any way the www. URL could still be linked to that? As i don't recognise the page not found page as a Godaddy one.

This is due to an issue with the DNS. Check your site's DNS for the entry named www. Currently, it still resolves to the old host. You need to remove it and then create a new A entry in GoDaddy DNS. You may need to wait for up to 48 hours for the updated records. Once the DNS is updated, your site should work as expected.

Thankyou! That makes a lot of sense.

I have logged on to the Domain Name manager.
I couldn't work out how to see what it hosting it is pointed at?

In the Diagnostic section of Domain Manager it says the site address is resolving properly.

    Nameserver Availability
Success! Nameserver(s) NS42.DOMAINCONTROL.COM, NS41.DOMAINCONTROL.COM resolved successfully. Your site is available.

    Web Server Availability
Success! THEFITNESSCONSULTANTS.CO.UK resolved successfully, and your site is available.

How am i supposed to find the DNS entry for http://www.?

    Thanks again for your help.

The following two articles may help you with your latest query...

    http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/680/managing-dns-for-your-domain-names

    http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/4080/managing-a-domain-names-subdomains

If you do not see any entry specific to www in the zone editor, simply create it as a new entry.

    Brilliant!

Pointed www to the go daddy hosting.

    Hopefully should be sorted.

Thankyou very much for your help.
