I have a new install of WP on a MAMP server. Everything worked fine until I tried to activate multisite (for subfolders): pasting the code that WP presents for multisite activation (which I believe is the same as that shown on http://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration)
for WP3.5+ into my .htaccess file caused a redirect loop when I try to access the site. I don't understand the components of that .htaccess file well enough to understand where the redirect loop is occurring. Was I supposed to modify that file in any way? If not, what part of that code would cause the re-direct loop?

  2. Yes you were supposed to edit the .htaccess file, but that shouldn't cause a redirect loop.
