htaccess and updating

    Hi, I am updating from 2.6.5 to 2.9.2. Do I need to delete the htaccess file and create an empty one (or presumably just deleting its contents is the same thing) or do I leave it as it is?

    leave it as is
    re-save permalinks after upgrade
    admin – settings – permalinks
