• sorry if this is a double post i couldnt find my old thread

    so when setting up the network for multi site it stated to add some stuff to the htaccess file but their was no htaccess file, so decided to create on and got a http 500 error and it forced me to delete the db and start all over again. so whats your guys soloution to not having an htaccess file and yet being forced to add stuff to it for the multi site.

  • If you got 500 error when adding .htaccess file, then there could be something wrong in your .htaccess file. You don’t have to start it all over again. Just correct the error in your .htaccess file.

    thats the thing is that when i create a .htaccess from scratch all i do is copy and paste the code from the network page, where its like “copy this into your htacess file” and then upload it causes the error…and then even if i delete the htacess file i still have the error…

    ok so after i deleted the data base and deleted all the files from the folder to which you upload your webpages i still get the 500 error…how do i fix this.

    how do i remake the .htaccess file?

    Internal server errors (error 500) are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for anything useful. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.
