• Hi,

Can anyone help me on this frustrating issue?

I have just moved a couple of sites out of WordPress simply to see how they do.

They are now running a domain extension of .html

Previously on WP the sites used xhtml with permalinks, ending with a trailing slash ie /

So a page would originally have been http://www.examp.info/example/ and now it is http://www.examp.info/example.html

For some reason when I use an htaccess 301 redirect, it does not work.

All spacing is correct and I have used plain text ASCCI coding.

It is as though it cannot recognise the /

I have also tried using .xhtml instead of the /, but this also fails to work.

The .htaccess code I have used is as follows redirect 301 /example/ http://www.examp.info/example.html

The domain name is unchanged – all I need is the correct code to carry this out.

I have used a .htaccess 301 redirect for other sites, with no problems, but that was from one html page to another html.

    Server is Godaddy Apache.

    Any ideas please?

You added .html to the permalink? Why?

Previously on WP the sites used xhtml with permalinks, ending with a trailing slash ie /

You could keep that with WordPress. So example.com/example/ would remain example.com/example/
