Hey, I have been using wordpress 1.5 for quite some time now. However, I am now trying to integrate FA album into my sidebar. Everything is working great except for I can not click on the thumbnails and go to a valid page.

I am under the belief that my problem is because of my .htaccess file. Inside of the options it said that my file is not writable and so I would have to make the changes myself.

however, I followed the directions, but I can not find the .htaccess file. I tried with core FTP, my host file manager and filezilla all with the option of showing hidden files. I have checked in my root directory, several directories above and below, and no luck.

Is this a file that is not included in wordpress 1.5? I am contemplating upgrading, but I am so scared of loosing everything that I am holding back.

Please let me know if there is a way to create this file, or if I am just making a silly mistake

    Thanks

The file is not included in the WordPress distribution.
If you are using pretty permalinks, it should be created in your blog's root ( installation directory )

If you are not using this kind of permalinks, byt have index.php in your URL's, you shouldn't need it.

In later versions of WordPress, you can add an empty .htaccess file to your blog directory, make sure it is writable by the web server and leave it there.

When you go to the admin interface and update permalinks, WP 2.0 and later will add the neccessary rules to .htaccess.
